Their picnic had started beautifully - bright sunshine, clear skies, all the usual perfect cliches - and then, at about three twenty, everything had turned a threatening shade of gray. Kaelin suspected Lapali demons, but he was sure the weather report would blame high pressure, or cold fronts or... whatever. They usually did. Either way, they'd had to move fast; throwing out spoiled food and packing up what was left so they could run back to the Warehouse before they got too waterlogged.
He wasn't sure how lucky they'd been, really, as he shoved open the side-door and held it open for Renai to hurry inside. The door slammed shut behind them and locked itself securely and Kaelin took a moment to blink down at the large puddle forming under the bundled-up picnic blanket in his arms.
"I... sorry about that," he said, offering a small apologetic grin. The picnic had been a nice idea, but apparently today wasn't the day. "We can order-in, if you want?"
