CHRYSOPRASE - A green-hued stone of mild healing. Often used to tend to minor physical wounds and to help treat infections.

CHYRA DEMON - A large Spider-like demon with a humanoid torso and head, arachnid hind quarters and eight long, spindly limbs. Its whole body is covered in coarse hair, except its smooth, shell-like underbelly. It's eight large eyes and large, deadly venomous pincers warp the shape and size of its humanoid head, giving it an unnatural and grotesque appearance. Its blood is bright green and can, along with its venom, be used in various potions, antidotes and elixirs.

COVEN - Covens consist of a group of Witches, Warlocks and/or Mages who are often drawn together because of similar ideals regarding the use and application of various magics. There are roughly six main, recognized covens in Lore City.

FAE/FAIRIES - Small, mischievous, often vicious creatures resembling tiny humans with wings. Often no more than several inches in height, these beings are not to be trusted. At best they're mischief-makers and tricksters, at worst they are deadly. They can occasionally take on regular human size, but only for short periods. Extended periods in this state exhausts them and some have been known to pass out or make themselves ill from attempting it.

LAPALI DEMON - Small, invisible flying demons that create moisture in the air around them. Were they visible, they would look like small, transparent flying eels - about the length of a finger. They move in flocks (or schools) and large numbers of them will often produce rain, as if from nowhere. They are completely harmless.

LEGION, THE - One of the largest and most respected supernatural militias in the world. Located in Lower Tarrow, they have been in operation for nearly two hundred years. They hunt supernatural creatures exclusively and are in no way affiliated with other, non-supernatural armies or militaries.

LORE CITY - Lore City is a dirty, grungy, sleazy city, full of all kinds of trouble - equal parts modern, Italian-inspired, and New York gothic in style. With a large number of dangerous supernatural beasts, the city boasts an equally large number of hunters, too. The City is among one of the most supernaturally active places in the country, if not the world, due in large to the vast number of underground gem mines that weave like a maze beneath its streets. (see MINES)

M

MAGE - Mages are powerful magic-wielders, concerned with high-level magics such as elemental, mind-reading and control, destruction and creation. Their magic is channeled through their own body and mind and can often be wordless. The transition from Warlock to Mage takes years and years of practice, and most Mages tend to be the older members of their respective Covens. Those in power often keep tabs on Mages, to make sure their magic is not being used nefariously. The title is genderless.

MERCH-MART - Just an ordinary corner-shop. You'll find chocolate bars, gummy candies, newspapers and magazines here - there's nothing particularly special about it. But behind the counter there is a door, beyond which lies The Merchandicey. The Merch-Mart is simply a cover for what lies hidden in back.

MERCHANDICEY, THE - A large warehouse located on the "wrong side of the tracks" in downtown Lore City. The building itself looks fairly run-down and innocuous from the outside, but is the main base of operations (and home) for its owner, Logan Apollo. This is where Logan runs his business, selling charms, runes, enchanted jewelry and potions to those with enough money. The warehouse is home to multiple alter rooms, greenhouses, libraries, workshops and blocked off 'tinkering stations'. There are many charms, curses and even sentient plants protecting the warehouse and entry is only possible through the Merch-Mart, or the two loading doors located at the back and side of the building.

MINES - The twisted labyrinth of tunnels that wind snake-like under Lore City. These mines are the breeding grounds of various species of demon, thanks to the high volume of naturally-occurring gemstones that grow there. Nobody really knows how these mines came to be there and no records of said mines have ever been found, but all attempts to destroy them have failed. There are rumors that the right mine will lead you straight to the mouth of Hell, but nobody's found it yet.

N

NA'VAH - Large, slimy lizard demons. Their reptilian hide is covered in a thin but sticky sheen of mucus-like slime, making them difficult for predators to hold onto. Their bodies and tails are long and muscular, and their main weapons are the large barb on the tip of their tail, their razor-like claws, and their long, sharp needle teeth. Their teeth are very valuable, as they can be crushed into powder and used in rare potions. They thrive in colder environments and their flesh is ice-cold to the touch.

RHSIDRA DEMON - Rhsidras are large, bipedal demons with strong, muscular legs and long, thick tails. They resemble large cat-like lizards with rough, scaled and wrinkled skin, tall pointed ears and large black eyes. Rhsidras are shape-shifters, however. They can take the form of any other living animal almost perfectly - though, there is always an element of their true form that crosses over with them.

S

SERPENTINE - A vivid emerald green gem, used for healing and treating poison/venom-related maladies.

SHAE DEMON - A large feline demon, similar in size to a panther or a leopard, but longer and sleeker. They have very tall, tufted ears that curl inwards at the top like horns; a long, thin, almost skeletal snout, and glowing golden eyes. Their fur is sleek and can come in a variety of colours of patterns. They are highly intelligent demons, and can communicate psychically with most other species and beings - including humans. They, unlike a lot of beast-like demons, are capable of rational thought and decision-making based on logic rather than instinct. Agile and vicious fighters, Shae make dedicated, valuable allies, and dangerous enemies.

T

TARROW (LOWER) - A small, quaint, religious country-town located in the South, and home of The Legion. Kaelin Zale lived here until the age of 23.

TRAX - Dive bar and local safe haven for all things Supernatural in Lore City. Most things are permitted here, but the manager, Benny, gets the final say. Are you on the run from a gang of crazy Vampires? You can find refuge here for a while. The drinks are pretty bad, but hey, they're cheap, so nobody's really complaining.

TWITCH BEETLE - Small, mostly harmless demons that resemble scarab beetles. They are about the size of an adult male's clenched fist, black in colour, and while a bite from a single beetle won't do you much harm, large swarms have been known to devastate small communities by wiping out livestock and driving people out of their homes.

WARLOCK - Warlocks are concerned with mid-range magic, such as conjuration, levitation and illusion. They most often require some sort of physical conduit with which to channel their magic - typically referred to as a "Wand", though the object can be almost anything. Advancing from Witch to Warlock takes time and study. Very, very few have achieved this transition in less then three years. This title is genderless.

WITCH - Witches tend to deal in lower-level magic, such as alchemy and simple rune work. Most customers seeking out the help of a Witch will be looking for potions and more basic enchantments, such as locating spells and unlocking charms. Everyone who wishes to become skilled in the Magical Arts must first become a Witch. Progression is possible from there. The title is genderless.
